Peter A. Gross, M.D.
Dr. Gross did his undergraduate
work at Amherst College and received his medical degree from Yale
University School of Medicine. His residency training was taken at
Yale and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital. He had an NIH special
fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health,
Yale University, as well as serving in the U.S. Public Health
Service as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer. He has been
on the medical faculties of Yale University and Columbia
University.
He currently is Professor of
Medicine and Vice Chairman of the Department of Medicine at New
Jersey Medical School, UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey. He is Chairman of the Department of
Internal Medicine and former Hospital Epidemiologist at Hackensack
University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is boarded
in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Gross has served on the
Hospital Wide Clinical Indicators Task Force of the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and
recently was appointed as chair, Pneumonia Clinical Advisory
Panel. He is past Chairman of the Practice Guidelines Committee of
the Infectious Disease Society of America and currently serves on
the IDSA governing council. He is past President of the Society of
Healthcare Epidemiologists of America. He is a member of the
Association of Professors of Medicine. He serves on the American
College of Physicians’ Task Force on Adult Immunization. His
published research includes over 250 articles on hospital
epidemiology, implementing quality improvement and influenza
vaccine.
